Studio 89

Modern handcrafted furniture from Melissa Fuller and Nondas Iacovou's Scarborough workshop. Live-edge pieces and exposed joinery.

Studio 89 — The Maine Field Guide

Studio 89 is the joint project of Melissa Fuller and Nondas Iacovou, partners who met at the University of Vermont in 1989 — the source of the studio's name. From a workshop in Scarborough, they design and handcraft modern furniture and home decor using traditional joinery and hand-applied natural oil and wax finishes. The 101 Collection emphasizes simple, exposed joinery; the 102 Collection reinterprets mid-century forms; and live-edge pieces are made one-of-a-kind from carefully selected local wood. For custom commissions, the team brings cardboard mockups to clients' homes to size and shape pieces in place. The philosophy: live better with fewer, more carefully chosen objects.
