Precipice Coffee is an Ellsworth micro-roastery and cafe run by Maggie and Bill Iannuzzi. It was the first fully solar-powered, zero-emissions coffee roaster in Maine.
Precipice Coffee is an independent coffee business based in Downeast Maine. Maggie and Bill Iannuzzi opened the Deane Street micro-roastery and cafe in downtown Ellsworth in 2021, roasting small batches on an electric Bellwether roaster that cuts carbon emissions by roughly 87 percent compared with a conventional gas machine. A rooftop solar array added in 2023 made the roastery, cafe, and bakery Maine's first fully solar-powered coffee operation. Green beans are sourced through the Bellwether Green Coffee Marketplace, roasted without fossil fuels, and packed in compostable bags, served alongside pourover, cold brew, espresso, and house-baked pie.
