Moonday Coffee is a small espresso and chai bar in a repurposed shipping container on Washington Ave, sharing a home with Thicket Jewelry and Mari: A Mini Bakery. Beans come from Portland's own Speckled Ax, with a scratch-made masala chai as the house specialty.

Moonday Coffee began in the summer of 2021 as a mobile espresso cart on Portland's Eastern Prom, launched by David Kessel. It now lives down the hill on Washington Ave in a repurposed shipping container known as The Black Box, alongside Thicket Jewelry and Mari: A Mini Bakery — three tiny, one-person businesses sharing one small space. The shop pulls espresso and pours drip coffee from beans roasted by Portland's own Speckled Ax, and makes its masala chai from scratch in-house, small and strong, based on a recipe learned in India. Expect cortados, cappuccinos, and seasonal lattes like maple cinnamon, with a cozy outdoor patio for lingering. Open Thursday through Sunday.
